Description

Our Guatemala Baja Verapaz Cubulco is a smooth, balanced medium roast with a rich chocolate-forward character and mellow fruit. Expect dark chocolate and almond with softer fruit notes that add sweetness and complexity without overpowering the cup.

This is a great coffee for people who want something flavorful but approachable. Guatemalan coffees are some of our favorite everyday coffees because they tend to be smooth, naturally sweet, and easy to enjoy. If you prefer a balanced cup with less acidity and plenty of chocolate character, this is a great place to start.

Our team recommends drip, pour-over, espresso, or French press. Its balance and fuller chocolate character make it especially versatile across different brewing methods.

From Cubulco, Baja Verapaz

This coffee comes from Cubulco in Guatemala’s Baja Verapaz region and is produced as a community lot from several small coffee farms in the area.

Contributing producers include Las Anonas, Las Naranjas, La Esperanza, Grano de Oro, Finca Las Piedras, and other local smallholders. Their coffees are brought together through Genuine Origin’s quality-control program to create a consistent regional lot.

A Smooth, Balanced Guatemalan Coffee

What stands out most about this coffee is its balance. It has the chocolatey sweetness and body many people look for in an everyday cup, while the fruit character remains mellow and approachable rather than sharp or intensely acidic.

That makes it a good choice for someone moving into specialty coffee or anyone who simply prefers a more familiar, chocolate-forward flavor profile.

Washed Process

This is a washed-process coffee. After harvest, the coffee fruit is removed from the seed before drying, resulting in a clean cup that lets the coffee’s natural sweetness, body, and origin characteristics come through clearly.

For this lot, the washed process complements its balanced profile and helps keep the chocolate, almond, and mellow fruit notes clean and well defined.

High-Elevation Coffee

The coffees in this lot are grown at approximately 1,600–1,800 meters above sea level and include Catuai, Pache-San Ramon, Sarchimor, Bourbon, and Caturra varieties.

The harvest typically runs from December through March. Each year, the lot is selected for quality and consistency, giving us a dependable Guatemalan coffee with an approachable flavor profile.
